Earth Day Preschool Craft – We Love Our Planet!

For Earth Day this year the girls created a puffy paint paper plate earth.

To create yours you will most definately need:

2tbsp of self raising flour

2tbsp of table salt

4 tbsp of water

Food coloring or paint.

Paper Plate

Construction Paper

and a Curious Preschooler!

I added basic outlines for the girls to add the land (green), but this is entirely optional. They then dripped the green puffy paint on the rough underside of the paper plate.

After they have finished with the green we popped it in the microwave and nuked it on full power until the paint become puffy and dry (aprox 1 min for us but we have a low powered machine).

Next we added the water (blue) to cover the whole of the paper plate.

We then microwaved this too! The girls were really impressed with the results and it was so much more interesting than the normal painting and collage crafts we tend to do. Although it was quite a smelly craft, as I am sure you will discover when you hit the start button on the microwave!

Then we added handprints wrapped around the earth and a heart to remind us we must look after our planet!

To finish the Earth Day Preschool Activity we sang the song, ‘ He’s got the whole world in His hands’!

You could also make this with shaving cream puffy paint. Mix glue with shaving cream then add the paint. You will have to let it air dry, but it had a fun texture to it once it is dry. I think that the paint that she used in this activity will also air dry, so you could probably use the same paint, you will just have to wait longer to complete the project :)
